The Karamojong
The Karamojong or Karimojong are an ethnic group that live mainly in northeastern Uganda and whose main activity is grazing. Their language is also known as Karamojong or Karimojong and agriculture is a secondary activity of this group.
A curiosity about this culture is that in order for a man to marry a woman, he must first combat melee with her and win, thus demonstrating that he is already a man and that he will be able to protect her, if the man is not able to winning generally moves to look for women in other tribes in which physical force is not a requirement for marriage.
The Karamojong practice the transhumant grazing that consists of moving along with the cattle to other areas in search of water for three or four months when the dry seasons arrive. Something interesting to know is that this subculture of Uganda is seen by other people as uncivilized, thieves and aggressive by various conflicts that have arisen with the theft of cattle and the hostility that the inhabitants of Karamoja can sometimes show.
Musicians
In Uganda one of the favorite activities is music. singing, dancing and playing instruments is an essential part of their culture and some of the main musical genres are folk music, Jazz and Hip hop. A large part of Ugandans use music as their main method of expression, as their way of telling the world who they are and telling their story. There are various festivals and rituals so that people who belong to musical groups or who are simply music lovers can share as is the case of the B-global indigenous Hip hop festival, the Bayimba International Music and Arts festival or the Safari of Golden Jazz of the Nile.
